The UNIGINE team has successfully integrated the Varjo VR-1 headset in our 3D Engine. The VR-1 is one of the most advanced HMDs currently available on the market. The helmet features full eye tracking with sub-degree accuracy, and it’s complemented by the Bionic Display, a human-eye resolution screen that features a resolution of more than 60 pixels per degree.

Powered by its high-precision hardware, the Varjo VR-1 is able to show renders and simulations with incredible clarity. Every detail, texture, contour and color are all just as crisp and clear as they are in the real world. Even the smallest texts and objects are distinguishable in the environment.

All of this makes it the perfect headset for complex training simulation, architectural models, 3D design.

However, the impressive capabilities of the device would be wasted without the proper 3D rendering environment. With UNIGINE’s planet-scale virtual world management system and photorealistic rendering, it’s a match made in heaven, especially considering the overlap in use cases between the two products. As Denis Shergin, UNIGINE CEO and Founder commented:

Our enterprise customers were asking if we can recommend a crystal-clear VR headset for professionals. Now the solution is here, Varjo headsets provide both great resolution and eye tracking required in demanding applications. I'm happy to see the synergy between the UNIGINE software platform and Varjo hardware, as we share several use cases in common, such as flight simulation and other types of professional simulators, engineering apps, industrial digital twins, and top-notch interactive presentations.

Both the UNIGINE 3D Engine and Varjo VR-1 are products made for professionals, by professionals, to facilitate industrial applications where performance and clarity are key. The synergy between the two demonstrates that VR technology isn’t just for video games.

The fully functioning plugin is already available in the latest release, UNIGINE 2.9, thanks to the tireless work of the UNIGINE team, together with prompt support from Varjo.

Niko Eiden, CEO of Varjo commented on the integration:

We take a lot of pride in the quality of our headsets, and our mission with VR-1 is to empower professionals who really need and appreciate quality to start using VR for industrial applications. The integration with UNIGINE represents an important step into the direction where Varjo will eventually change the way designers, simulation professionals and researchers interact and work with computers.
