UNIGINE Presented the Digital Twin at the Neftegaz-2018 Exhibition

From April 16 to 19, the Neftegaz-2018 international exhibition took place in the Moscow expocentre. This event attracts 1,000 companies from 40 countries and more than 30,000 visitors each year. UNIGINE demonstrated the possibilities of using virtual reality technologies in the oil and gas industry.

All participants of the exhibition had an opportunity to walk through a virtual copy of an oil refinery, developed on UNIGINE 2 platform. Also they could find out what the digital twin of an enterprise is and how it can be applied.

Our exhibition stand was visited by top managers of the largest Russian and international oil and gas companies, industry experts from different countries.

The way of training staff using an interactive 3D model of a particular enterprise found the greatest response among industry professionals. Such training is more effective than listening to lectures or watching video tutorials, as an employee can work a whole shift in the conditions and with the equipment that he will deal with in reality. It also allows simulating emergencies and working out the behavior of employees without risking their lives.

Teaching artificial intelligence and computer vision systems that can replace many employees in virtual test sites created in UNIGINE 2 is also possible. Excluding the human factor, the unmanned technologies implementation lowers the probability of accidents and helps to reduce the number of staff working in the harsh conditions.

The company’s experience at the Neftegaz-2018 exhibition was quite successful — we were highly evaluated by industry professionals. VR technologies are in demand with oil and gas companies, especially within the concept of the digital production. And it was proved by lively interest in our stand.
