Alexander Zaprjagaev, CTO

Co-founder of the company, working on the project since 2004.

Role

Alexander "Frustum" Zaprjagaev is the main driving power of Unigine development, he leads it from the very first line of code, now he is responsible for design and development of the engine. Alexander had created a competitive well-designed middleware, which is always kept on the bleeding edge of the technologies. He also closely communicates with technology partners of the company, especially regarding hardware compatibility issues.

Experience

Previously, Alexander held positions of software developer at VRtainment GmbH and IT lab of Tomsk State Pedagogical University. Alexander is an open source enthusiast, his own frustum.org project (now it's available at frustum.unigine.com) is a very popular place where programmers find a lot of his tech demos with free sources (Unigine has roots in this project). Even in the early years of his work in 3D he was supported by NVIDIA Corporation and ATI Technologies Inc. because of the very high technical level of his demos.

Expertise

Alexander is an outstanding software developer, highly competent in 3D graphics, physics simulation, GUI, scripting systems and much more. He has 10 years experience of software development for different platforms, including RISC-based computers and handhelds. Alexander has implemented even his own prototype of operating system, not to mention a web-based mail system (in cooperation with Denis Shergin) and various small utilities. However, his main passion is 3D graphics and he is a real guru in it, being familiar with all modern techniques and hardware. Many people said that his projects are brilliant examples of clean and extremely effective code.

Education

Alexander holds a M.S. degree in Radiophysics from Tomsk State University.
