5 years since the first commercial release of Unigine
The first commercial version of Unigine engine was released five years ago, on May 4, 2005. With the release number 0.3, it had codebase size of approximately 10% relative to the current one. At that time, there used to be 5 people on board.

Unigine Heaven Benchmark 2.0
Updated version of Unigine Heaven DirectX 11 benchmark is now publicly available. Main changes are: added more content, improved engine, introduced "moderate" and "extreme" tessellation modes, added Linux version (32/64 bit).

Denis Shergin, CEO

Co-founder of the company, joined the team in 2005.

Role

Denis "binstream" Shergin managed to convert Unigine from an open source program into a mature commercial product with bright prospects. He has built the company's infrastructure from a scratch without any outside investments, and made it profitable from year one. He is responsible for marketing, public relations, business development, human resources and project management. Denis also actively helps the team by making use of his vast IT experience as a web developer, software architect and Linux expert.

Experience

Previously, Denis was a co-founder, developer and manager at SHERDart web studio; held positions of instructor of Internet Access and Training Program, system administrator at IT lab of Tomsk State University. He has been working together with Alexander Zaprjagaev for a long time, participating in frustum.org and mail@web open source projects. Denis is also an organizer of successfull non-commercial projects since 2000 (non-commercial regional LAN, Linux users community of the city, open source seminars, all-Russian open source conference).

Expertise

Denis is a successful IT entrepreneur for more than 10 years, leading various projects to success. Among the other awards, he twice won scholarship of Vladimir Potanin fund, devoted to education and support of future top-managers. He is also an author of a number of technical articles devoted to open source software. Denis has more than 14 years of overall IT experience, he is highly competent in Linux environment, networking, system administration, usability, web development and software design in addition to the management background.

Education

Denis holds a M.S. degree in Radiophysics from Tomsk State University.
